Puntland is a struggling federal state of Somalia whose main industry was pirating untill it died a couple years ago and now they can't even pay their civil servants and security forces each months.Some of them even go without pay for more than a year.They have neither major companies nor small businesses and their goverment doesn't collect any formal taxes.They were even forced to use fake money to survive at one point.

Somalia(Puntland included) has a huge external debt because of general budget support from developed nations while Somaliland is the only country in the world with no external debt.

Its a common fact known by everyone that Somalilanders,mainly Isaaq,consider Ethiopians as brothers than F-word from Somalia.

Ethiopia took in and helped a lot of Isaaq refugees in the 1980's and even armed SNM to fight the Somalia's National Army that killed 200k of my people in cold blood and bombed Hargeisa,Burco and Berbera into the ground.We will always be grateful for Ethiopia's help back then.

And the Berbera port deal with UAE and Ethiopia is the first major investment our isolated unrecognized de facto state received.Thanks to this wonderfull deal we finally have the capital to develop many crucial sectors and jump start the growth of our economy which will create much needed jobs for our large unemployed youth.
