The major issue is 'water' and 'evaporation' why not water the trees at night so the roots can be wetter for longer and during the day let the sun do it's part.
You use subsurface drip irrigation to minimize evaporation in daytime, so you bury them in the ground, the deeper you go the more water is preserved.

The local gov needs to confiscate these camels and give it to the soldiers on the front lines or the needy. Waxaan waa edeb daaro. Also fine the idiots who own them. Garowe mayor has started implementing this measures after having goats wandering around. Even after repeated warnings this shit still continued.

We need to set a target or follow international standard for land diversity

NFP proposed that 60% of the land in the hills and 20% in the plains and in all 33% of the total geographical area should be under forest/tree cover.

33% of 212,000 SQ KM is 70000 SQ KM roughly. We need to dedicate that much to forests. We need to start 1000 SQ KM targets of greenery in each district. That will give us 50,000 SQ KM if we aim for 1000 sq km of just trees in each district.

@Neero we need land diversity. We must set a goal of 20-30% of Puntland land mass is dedicated to greenery. We can allocate 60% to hills across puntland districts, 20% to plains like dharor/nugal/mudug, 20% to mountains. We got a beautiful longest coastline in Somalia that will work with the 'trees' to moderate our climate and increase our rains.

This is a win-win for puntites and we can hand to our next generation, a beautiful diverse landscape. Even tho our previous generation handed us a 'desert' we can reverse this and be remembered as the new generation who handed our descendants land diversity.

What adverse effect would the millions of trees have tho? The Green wall along the gobi desert depleted ground water and decreased soil moisture.

I heard Puntland has soft soil once u get past the rocky upper surface. Any truth to this? or is it dependent on location? their is plenty of farms even tho it's not 'large scale' farming, but it's showing their is agriculture potential. The costs involved is not something that is discussed either.

I think planting trees is straightforward even though it's physically hard but we have geeljire that can graze wherever they want due to xeer. They don't even have to be from the district, they have the same rights. So I believe there should be government enforcement before these kind of projects are attempted at a large scale. I'm guessing that's why it has never taken place.

EU once donated $25 million to Puntland NGOs to fight desertification, so funding can be acquired. 2 months ago it was reported that workers in the MoE were participating in exporting trees. The main problems are corruption and a lack of land reform.
