Puntland Election v Somaliland election

What kind of stupid thread is this?? The international community would fund the election, certainly PL could easily do 1 man 1 vote.

It would probably even help legitimize the goverment and the IC would further cooperate with Puntland in matters such as security and development.

PL has itself to blame not Somalia or Somaliland.

Now you got this weird ass candidate that no one has heard of that won.

A lot of people talk about how puntland needs to evolve to 1 vote 1 person or ballot elections.
But considering how fragile inconsistent expensive and volatile ballot elections are taking Somalilands most recent election as an example, I consider puntland type of election a lot more suitable for us. Us as in small regions elections..

Western elections don't suit us for varieties of reasons..

1 being Somalis are sore loosers and don't accept loosing under circumstancial environments.

2 African/middle eastern nations don't have a great history in western style elections..hence middle essterns don't have them and Africans have it like Kenyans..bangas on your skull depending on which candidate you support..

3. Political parties are easier to be influenced by outsiders through serious fundings than influencing 30 individuals.

4. There is a reason why islam never accepted ballot elections....general people should never be in the process of deciding the fate of the country........red light warning BREXIT AND DONALD TRUMP..biggest mistake ever made on global stage both through ballot boxes..


Puntland election was as straight forward in a day result in front of everybody's eyes..shake hands asalamu calaykum, here is your new president vp and your parliament..

I don't necessarily approve the hush money involved but this is our grassroots home made straight forward selecting our new leader by those (not the general folks) that have the most experience amongst us..


In short I strongly believe puntland election trumps Somaliland election..and we should never move to Ballot boxes...

Jamac faraax and xaawo from miyiga should never be involved in grand decisions such as choosing a new leader..

Somaliland election was a a serious sham in comparison to puntland election

Guys this thread is a serious thought provoking subject that needs academically debated.

One man one vote election hasn't done great for a lot of countries and regions including Somaliland. There is no need to be immature about it by being defensively aggravated.

Somalilands last election has nearly destroyed politically that part of Somalia a region that is widely acknowledged as a progressive state.

One should not bury this type of research. Puntlands election is by far a better formula to elect the next leader.. it's has been proven ...

Places like Russia Turkey China Iran Pakistan that pretend to have elections always end up with 90% plus results.. there is a reason why

Somalilands election had far more tribalism involved than Puntland..and that's due to qabiil party allegiances...
