The northeast coast of Somalia

(March 20, 2020) --- The northeast coast of Somalia is pictured as the International Space Station orbited above the Gulf of Aden.

The easternmost country on the continent of Africa, Somalia’s arid plateaus, plains and highlands are typically colored in a variety soft tans when seen from space. After rains fall, the landscape may be suffused with a gentle wash of green, marking the growth of vegetation. This was the case on March 5, 2020, when the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image of Somalia.

I’ve noticed most of NASA pics of Somalia are PL. They must really like taking pics of PL.

That unique geography is why it keeps getting pictured. You can easily spot it from space.
