@osman, a lot of educated Somalis in the west are into propaganda material and group thinking. Look @ the Laascaanood conflict, the Harti were fighting as sub clans ,engaging in daily battles with no objective and would lose many men to not even advance a few inches. Somalis place too much emphasis on how many people are killed from the other side.
The SL militia holed up in Goojacade seemed better organised and a had a better command structure (now they’ve gone back to organising sub clan militias lol).
When the Harti clans met and they decided to appoint a military commander for the operation, and they acted as a cohesive unit, the SL fled from there in a few hours.
IMO PL is very lucky Dacish doesn’t have a major backer such as Iran like the Houthis do. If they were a group able to smuggle weapons similar to those the Houthi have-Bosaso would be under threat. It also shows how limited and weak the arms embargo makes Somalia. The fact that these guys were able to infiltrate such a large swathe of a land is a massive failure.
In any serious society, there would be an inquiry and review, ie, someone would lose their job. The UN reports show some prominent people are involved in the arms smuggling into Dacish. To defeat them you need preventive measures (arms smuggling operations, intelligence gathering of places the recruits stayed on their journey, investigations into all numbers called on captured cell phones). PL needs to hold an inquiry into every single xawaalat as Pl is the number one money laundering place for Dacish globally. Their accounts need to be transparent or taken over by the government. Mumin is wiring money to all corners of Africa. This can be stopped if the legislation is brought in and the xawalat are regulated properly. Then you need to sack/arrest any officials including qabil elders who are too close to them in their areas of operation. Meesha waa la isku dhex jiira due to the ease with which people can be bribed even by Dacish or given incentives to turn the other way. Pl is trying to address the problem without addressing the symptoms which means you could be back to the same place in a few years time.
PL also needs a 10 year plan to radically improve the army.
When you point out these things people will accuse you of “hating” or being negative. A society which is not able to take criticism is not forward thinking.
Rant over.
