PL lead the way by helping itself and then helping Somalia from 1998 in PL and then 2004-2009 in Hamar. That's written. Are you blind? We got recognition from the entire world. So much so that we are featured in the latest war strategy game played by millions, Europe Universalis 4. The game is known for its historical accuracy.
SL has a-lot recognition thru it's igu sawir and begging white irrelevant ppl with no power. Where-as PL federalism recognition is by those who count with power in the world plus locally. Being "disputed" doesnt mean he didnt have a clan. SYL has 13 figures and ppl dispute over their clans, same with Xawo Taako etc people even dispute singers that are alive today, doesnt mean they dont have a clan. If the singer Lafoole came out with a Karanle flag you would still find ppl calling him reer hebel or karanle or geri koombe kkkkk. End of the day occams razor means you take the case that is strong, you dont leave something up to dispute if somalis dispute 99% of their history.
Some Somalis even dispute if they are Arabs or non Arabs. DNA has proven the reality, it doesnt mean the "dispute" trumps the data and evidence.

Ahmed Gurey was Karanle Hawiye, This 1k page monograph on the Imam is currently in Harar library. It’s the only state funded research of the imam that’s accepted in capital state university. It covers the identity of the imam including the Malassay (elite infantry) that did most of the fighting and had access to the fire arms.
The book was written in the early 60s, the research was entirely funded by King Selassie's government but references chronicles of habesha emperors, futuh and foreign accounts all spanning the last 500 years. Its the most in depth study on Gragns history yet to be fully translated.

Amhara and Harari scholars decide who is who as they are the once being consulted by western historians who want to know more. The history of Gragn is beyond Somali history, all of the works around him are based on Hararge which has multuple ethnic groups. An Amhara scholar who wrote the history of Ethiopia from Nubians to Yakuno Amlak to Menelik and a Harari scholar who has copies of the earliest history of Harar preceding Ifat are in agreement that Gragn is Somali Karanle, what Somali mainland scholar can compare in weight to a nation of people who write their own history?
