Most likely, If the ancient Egyptians come to trade for porcupine quills, that would have told us it was definitely in present day SL.

Actually, Somalis originated in the south, but whatever.
do you really believe that. I have slighty read into it but I don't believe that is possible I was just wondering then who were the people that traded with the Romans and the other ancient civilisation and would that also mean that our separation from the oromo was only recent as Lewis believe the south to north migration would have only happened in the last 1000 to 2000 years. I just think it is unlikely. Why would we migrate from greener pastures to an arid desert.

Punt was in Eritrea.
prove it that punt was where you claim it was.

"The exact location of Punt is still debated by historians. Most scholars today believe Punt was situated to the southeast of Egypt, most likely in the coastal region of modernDjibouti, Eritrea, northeast Ethiopia, Somalia, and the Red Sea littoral of Sudan."
The Land of Punt was definitely in Somalia. Most of the goods that Punt brought to Egypt was indigenous to Africa. The best frankincense and tortoise shell in the market came from Somalia. Dr. Njoku, a world-class writer, a history professor, and the director of the international studies program at Idaho State University, also asserts the historical importance of Somalia’s trading links with the ancient leading civilizations and the nature of its exports through the trading city-states along its coast, well known through archaeology and Greco-Roman records. As such, he reminds us: “the coastal city-states produced and traded significant amounts of the precious goods that were associated with the people of Punt.”

“Pottery found in Opeonean tombs date back to the Mycenaean Kingdoms if Greece that flourished between the 16th and 11th century BC.” (This is a time when Egyptian trade with Punt was flourishing)

"According to Pliny (A Roman scholar), the Port of Isis (Djibouti/ Zeila) was a center for myrrh commerce. He likewise noted that the Egyptian Pharaoh Sesostris led his forces passed the region en route to the northeastern port of Mosylon (Bosaso), a cinnamon hub that is believed to have been in or close to present-day Bosaso. Additionally, Pliny indicated that the Port of Isis was located near stone pillars on which unknown letters were engraved. Samuel Sharpe suggests that these old inscriptions were probably hieroglyphical."

Österreichische Leo-Gesellschaft, Görres-Gesellschaft, Anthropos Institute (1941).

"Our results reveal a high likelihood match with eastern Somalia and the Eritrea-Ethiopia corridor, suggesting that this region was the source of Papio hamadryas exported to Ancient Egypt (from Punt).

By the way, the Habesha were still in Yemen in the times of the Pharaohs.

One of the top Egyptologists believed that Somalis were the ancestors of the Egyptians. The Egyptians believed that the people of Punt were their ancestors.
