I have slighty read into it but I don't believe that is possible I was just wondering then who were the people that traded with the Romans and the other ancient civilisation and would that also mean that our separation from the oromo was only recent as Lewis believe the south to north migration would have only happened in the last 1000 to 2000 years. I just think it is unlikely. Why would we migrate from greener pastures to an arid desert.
We migrated to the north millennia ago. Before Greeks or Romans even came to the region. As to why we migrated, I can't say, maybe the north wasn't so arid thousands of years ago. But there's no doubt we originate from Southern Ethiopia/Northern Kenya. That is the geographical area where the closest relatives to somalis, the Borana and the Rendille also originate.
