Putin wants to make Russia like the USSR

After reading the list demand from Putin after invading Ukraine, and reading the article of foreign affairs, it seems like putin is either gone mad or he is planning for something else

TL:dr
The demands contain elements - such as an effective Russian veto on future NATO membership for Ukraine - that the West has already ruled out.

Others would imply the removal of U.S. nuclear weapons from Europe and the withdrawal of multinational NATO battalions from Poland and from the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania that were once in the Soviet Union.

Putin has routinely complained that the global order ignores Russia’s security concerns, and he has demanded that the West recognize Moscow’s right to a sphere of privileged interests in the post-Soviet space. This means its former Soviet neighbors should not join any alliances that are deemed hostile to Moscow, particularly NATO or the European Union.

the Soviet Union denied self-determination to central and eastern Europe aWhen a country strayed too far from the Soviet model—Hungary in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968—its leaders were ousted by force. The Warsaw Pact was an alliance that had a unique track record: it invaded only its own members.nd exercised control over both the domestic and foreign policies of Warsaw Pact members

The modern Kremlin’s interpretation of sovereignty has notable parallels to that of the Soviet Union. It holds, to paraphrase George Orwell, that some states are more sovereign than others.Putin has said that only a few great powers—Russia, China, India, and the United States—enjoy absolute sovereignty, free to choose which alliances they join or reject.

This guy think that he could kick some NATO states out of the Club, not just that, he thinks small nations don't have the right of sovereignty or control over their foreign affairs. The later sounds like Finland in pre 1989 USSR-Finland relation.

I'm talking about how this Putin is undermining sovereign states' sovereignty and them planning their foreign affairs and you reply with that classic Left socialis-Right capitalist rhetoric? You don't see that there is something wrong with his doctrine?

Oh so you're for the independence of states and protecting their sovereignty? Then you should cheer the fall of US ability to treat the entire world like its colony.

He has a point though how would America feel if it had nukes pointed at them from Cuba or Mexico? Would they not he severely threatened? The west would never allow it, so why double standard for Putin?

If we had a powerful Somalia today and we attacked Ethiopia today 99% of this forum would celebrate it.

Even if we went into non-Somali areas like the Afar or Oromo territories.

Well, the US is just that evil that large segments of its own population oppose it.
You’re still a northern American regardless.

you’re just supporting a country that’s Anti-Muslim lmao Putin and his regime don’t like Muslims at all in any way.

be an actual ally and not a traitor and stand with your American brothers and sisters

Lol a country that's anti-Muslim? I need to support the US- the world leader in bombing and killing Muslims?

That is very funny. Please to fly to any Muslim country on earth and ask five random people what they think of the US.

Well, no country near America wants that except Cuba and venizuela. But even they would not want to install missiles from Russia .

Ukraine didn’t want to anti Russian 10 years ago before Russia being aggressive toward them acting like Ukraine didn’t had sovereignty over its foreign affairs. So Russian being aggressive is what caused all of this

In a dream scenario where the west destroys itself.

Alas we await god's mercy on us misguided and divided people.

:rejoice: :kanyehmm:

Nuclear weapons and American hegemony has made geopolitics boring.

If these two factors weren't there, we would see a dog eats dog version of geopolitics.

Daily reminder that Ukraine is not real. It is the Slavic version of SOMALILAND. Realer than Neverland, but faker than Disneyland and Kraft cheese

On the key question of Ukraine, Dugin underlines: "Ukraine as a state has no geopolitical meaning. It has no particular cultural import or universal significance, no geographic uniqueness, no ethnic exclusiveness" (377). "Ukraine as an independent state with certain territorial ambitions," he warns, "represents an enormous danger for all of Eurasia and, without resolving the Ukrainian problem, it is in general senseless to speak about continental politics" (348). And he adds that, "[T]he independent existence of Ukraine (especially within its present borders) can make sense only as a 'sanitary cordon'" (379). However, as we have seen, for Dugin all such "sanitary cordons" are inadmissible.
