Question for all those somalis who believe the whole bash somalis all the time.
Would accept an cadaans saying the same stuff you say about somalis and maybe discriminating you because of it?
Don't you understand that you are also somali so any negative comment on somalis also applies to you and your family?

I don't know about the lives of Western Somalis living in countries where multiculturalism is at strife or face racism from the white or what ordeal they went through in school , but in here the youngsters only hate Somali politics , we really hate that good for nothing ambassador based in Pretoria , but not the nationality despite Somalia being the worst country this century.

So when we criticize we heavily curse on Somali politicians , because some of them are the exact reasons why many are displaced in the first place.

Btw Nabad and Nolol representatives try to make a hall event here in Cape Town but cancelled.

Many youngsters didn't welcome them , because we see them as illegitimate , actually all Somali embassy as good for nothing , fake lies and broken promises , how are they even trying to get our support by staying in elite 5 star hotels eating top notch cuisines , yet dares to visit us by saying na taageero bilaa dhiig people
when our people suffer in the townships , do you know there's an AU conference here , Somalia and South Africa had billiteral meetings recently yet the talks didn't include the well-being of Somali citizens.
Meanwhile the Nigerian and Mozambican leaders have expressed their concerns over their expats.

So yeah I dislike villa Somalia with a passion.

Most think they and their family are different. It's why using the same insults against their hooyo and aabo is so effective the backlash and qashin ratings make it more entertaining.

Somalis and some on here Self hate due to insecurities and feeling less superior to other races/ethnic backgrounds when in reality we have one of the best cultures on the planet and are the strongest people on Earth by faith and by pure bravery and resilience.

Self hate also takes many forms such as naming your kids Arabic/foreign names instead of ethnic Somali names.

However self hate is minuscule in the Somali community compared to say South Asians/Indians/East Asians who would kill to date outside their own, bleach their skin to oblivion and change up their names for a white name.

I have no self hate, but I do think a good deal of Somalis need to balance pride and insecurity.

The insecurities come from 2 places:

1. The state of our nation, and that being fuel for those who hate our ethnicity to bash us.
2. Other minorities saying hateful things to Somalis as a form of trauma.

For me, I never really cared about the modern Somali state, and focused more on the interesting projects some of the states are doing in the nation as a whole. Other things I focus on are historical facts, which is also fascinating as well. As such, I never felt insecure about being Somali from that angle.

The second aspect was something I never experienced. In my time growing up in Canada, there weren't a lot of people in my HS and university making fun of Somalis. The occasional pirate joke would come from time to time, but we'd usually have a come back for that. So I was never bullied for being Somali, so I don't have trauma from my experience being Somali.

I think for those who are insecure, you need to reflect upon the trauma you had growing up and ask yourself if the things said about you are true.

If someone called you ugly before, did you have someone who had a crush on you?
If someone called you stupid, are you currently in university pursuing an education?
If someone called you a savage, are you a law abiding citizen?
If someone called you poor, are you able to sleep in a bed, enjoy modern amenities and eat 3 square meals a day with snacks?
If someone calls you smelly, are you hygienic?

If you allow insults to seep into your unconscious mind and fester, your self hate will only result in a more toxic manifestation. Eventually, it'll cause depression and it'll cause you to alienate yourself from your people, who would probably care about you more than other groups.

That's my two cents on the matter.
