Vegans that believe animal life is intrinsically worth as much as A human's are wrong, but they're headed in the right direction. The current state of factory farming is fucked up, but more importantly unsustainable environmentally. Not to mention some of slaughtering methods are extremely inhumane.

Hippie fairy white vegans are in their own world. Of course human life > animal life. But there is no need to be cruel to animals.

As you said industrial farming is cruel and environmentally unsustainable. But even on a human health level, industrially farmed animals lack proper nutrition. And so they do not provide us with the nutrition we think they do. Example, animals obtain nutrients from eating plants - eating diverse plants is key to obtaining different nutrients. But industrial animals are fed only cheap soy proteins. The focus is to get them fat not nutritionally enriched. Of course plants only provide the nutrients available to them through the soil but if the soil is industrially farmed and pesticides are applied etc, it becomes depleted of key minerals. It’s a vicious cycle.

Lastly, I also have to question the halal-ness of food produced in such a way. Islam teaches us to be kind to animals and not mistreat them. Compassionate animal husbandry is a vital part of halal meat production imo.

ultimately it depends on the person. if the persons moral values are in such high regard that they consider an animal suffering to be their problem they will likely become a vegan or vegetarian. however, most of the world dont think that way and think that a cow or a chicken is a piece of meat. including me

I also see them as food, and I do consume meat. The problem is the condition the meat has been obtained in. I believe there is an overconsumption of meat which drives to undesirable practices to meet demand.

I don't know though, either way the status quo is not good.

sure when u put it that way, in the western world there is a huge overconsumption of meat but these things arent going to go away for centuries imo because of the way it has been ingrained in a western lifestyle.

I don’t like this weird shouty/angry tone some tiktokers do very jarring. Just talk normal.

The vegan teacher went to too far @ an under age boy but overall she’s right. Eating animals in this day and age of industrial farming is reprehensible.

The industrial revolution necessitated ( and made possible) more efficient farming practises. Small local farms were merged to create mega farms that used machines instead of human labour. The world wars and all the scientific inventions they brought made it possible to add chemicals to the mix. And so modern farming was birthed.
