(Reddit topic) a new capitol city for Somalia

Somalia needs a rotating capital between all the FMS, OR each one has a different specific role. Furthermore, if there was a foreign invasion and they captured the capital city, if there are multiple, they can't claim to have 'won'.

After 1991, and seeing how clan militias mobilised around their traditional deegaan, to massacre unarmed civilians. Who would be foolish enough to trust their assets in one location?

Centralisation + the 1991 ethnic cleansing, should be a warning sign, not a manual.

My Hoyoo used to talk about how all walks of life used to gather at Xamar and how its beauty is unmatched .

I would always leave it at Xamar but baraawe could be a choice

All Somalis gathered there, naively, unarmed, and then had no defence against clan militias. That's the real legacy of Xamar.

Till this day, there are people living in stolen houses, and the real owners are buried in the backyard. When their offspring try to reclaim their rightful assets, they get threatened and even killed.

That place needs a deep-clean, qur'aan saar and justice, and even then, I would advise people to keep their bags packed.

I have close family that had to leave their houses and land and obviously they still haven't been able to reclaim it.

I thought only i thought this, i didnt think anyone else thought the same. Each 1/2 years there's a rotating capital city. This includes the most populated ones.

Baraawe is a good choice not close to either Kenya or Ethiopia can become a port city as well
I’m mainly basing my answer of the historical architecture per city . If Somalia becomes stable and United a want a prosperous tourism industry .

I don’t think any city can rival Xamar but baraawe can come second to it . Correct me if I’m wrong

I really hope for a power sharing and everyone involved approach instead of the usual 1 man everything. Somalis don't want centralism so it's I would hope we accept a power sharing agreement

Centralism + Clan Militias= recipe for ethnic cleansing. No matter where the capital city is, all we need is one idiot trying to hold onto power, and then the strongest clan/strongest militia in the area will mobilise.

I think xamar can work, but it has to basically become a brussels to EU type of city, where it’s ruled by only the FGS. Let them sort out everything in xamar and leave everyone else to their own devices.

It can still be the β€œofficial” government and do world tours but doesn’t exert any influence outside of the city.

Post 90s Mogadishu is just the capital city on paper. Majority of somalis dont care about it if they aint got relatives there, same reason Somalis flock to Eastleigh under kenyans rather than Djibouti a somali country.

somalia need a new capital city from scratch which no clan can claim nor hold power in.

Every inch of Somali territory is claimed by a clan how would that work ?
