Reer Aussies, I have a question. Are housing shortages real or a myth?

Young Aussies in Eastern Australia (Melbourne & Sydney) love to complain and whine about the housing shortage and how they're expensive 24/7 but a quick look on real estate sites shows ample of properties available for rent in diverse and multi-cultural heavy areas. Those $300 p/w properties in the Western and Northern suburbs often have 3+ bedrooms and decent sized backyards.

I think the Anglo whiners live close to the city in a $900p/w cubicle and all want to live in middle class predominately Anglo suburb where they grew up in which is not cheap and are too demanding/competitive. They don't want to live next to mini Hanoi, Delhi, Middle East or East Africa, areas where they deem as "unsafe".

True or false?

lol 300 pw where? You’d be lucky to get 400pw for a old 3 bed house. Even then there is truth to your statement but it doesn’t take into consideration that 60k after tax which is the average salary plus 400 pw rent leaves you with not much money to save up for a deposit. Meanwhile, growth corridors are expanding further away, with shit houses that won’t last 8 years and they are getting more expensive. It’s not quite apocalyptic but it’s still fucked, especially when compared to other western nations.

I still believe racism is the real reason. It is easy for dual income if they’re willing to downgrade and drop their classism.

Why is it that they never talk about those areas and always paint them in a negative light? They’re going to give you weird looks if you ask them why not look in Hume, Brimbank and Wyndham suburbs where rents are 2x lower and houses are $200k plus cheaper compared to the other side of Melbourne? For example;

Lebmeadows

St Hanoi-ban

Werribican

Delhi Crossing

Dandenonistan

Those are the same people that preach about multi cultural vibes in Brunswick despite it being all whites but won’t mention the Turkiburg and Arawkner shops and food places everywhere 5 minutes up ahead.

It’s not racism so much as it is classism. Imagine growing up and the divide was north vs south Yarra where posh people argue about who is cooler and now you have to live out west with zero infrastructure, garbage everywhere and dodgy people around.

I heard some of them managed to stave off homelessness due to live in cardboard box

I hope for a severe, worldwide recession, way worse than 2008-09. Preferably a depression. There are too many dead weight humans in the world.
You seem like your living with ungrateful room mates. If a server recession happens all those houses on the market will just get scooped up by these large corporations and later they'll move to land grabs. You won't really have a pot to piss in and window to throw it out than. Sxb chill with gloomy mindset and walk around your cardboard box to release some stress :russ:

So you agree with me. Another thing they also like to talk about is needing “more government housing”.

The mystery that I have pondered for a while is why are there seems to be severe lack of whites in brown rendered high rises? Why not live in those hundred vacant spots until you get back in shape or is it because of classism and superior complex again? So much that they would rather live with roomates in the privileged areas…

Unless if there’s some shenanigans (unlikely) going on where the local govt reserve these for east africans, vietnamese and junkies.

i’m a uk girly i want to marry an aussie somali, how do i go about it

Australian somali community is solid, a good friend of mine recently married an aussie somali woman. Man's a journeyman electrician and a foreman here in Alberta, CA and making great money. He's considering a move there as their mining industry is pretty solid and year round unlike Canada's oil sand work.

You rarely hear bad stuff from somali aussies

I have a big, beautiful home. No cardboard box for me. Let corporations do as they wish. I still want a big crash.
