Am I tripping, or do a lot of reer miyi not know how to properly recite the Quran? It’s like they have no idea what tajweed is.
My father was recently traveling in Somalia and met a geeljiire. They filmed him reciting the Quran and sent me the video. At first, I was just happy that this nomad who lives in the middle of nowhere has this close of a relationship with Allah, but then I noticed his tajweed was horrible.
It made me wonder do they even have access to proper Quran teachers Or is it just passed down orally without much emphasis on rules?
