Somaliland supremacy

inshallah wind turbines in somaliland in the future too, maybe also desalination and water treatment projects

sompower operating under the gov of somaliland and its leader muse bixi, this concept seems not to compute with you

Do you reckon after the mistakes he made as a madxweyne will ever be forgiven because this guy comes across as a complete 180 compared to silyno, what do you think?

Guys I’m kind of astonished from this progression:9uoofqd:Is Somaliland’s ideology the same as North Korea when it comes to self reliance (Juche) I’m not being rude or anything just want to know if this is true or not.

Somaliland is just a big freemarket where business thrive and expand and eventually movie into the other Somali States.

Why PL complains about seeing Made in Somaliland products flooding their market. And talking about tariffs.

The average electricity usage in Somalia will be less than USA and other developed countries.

The point is 20MW of power is a pittance when you trying to power hundreds of thousands of homes, even more so for industry.

There is no chance that this station could power 80% of the city. It's an obvious lie.

Deets on the contract winners and cost of projects:salute:

They have already implemented all those projects and you can find details on their website.

A new list of projects will be proposed soon as the programs are now done.I suspect much bigger projects will be proposed in which UKAID will cover 50% of expenses and the rest by private investors or the government. :hmm:

These are the companies short listed for the next round of projects

DHYBRID technology increases security of supply for Berbera town and port

Gauting (Germany) / Berbera (Somaliland), June 22, 2021. From April 2021, the city-wide power grid of Berbera including the largest port in the region will be monitored and controlled with microgrid technology from DHYBRID. In the network of the energy supplier Berbera Electricity Company (BEC), two solar systems with a total of 8 megawatts of power, a lithium-ion power storage system with a capacity of 2 megawatt hours and three modern diesel generators were combined. This enabled BEC to lower the electricity tariff in Berbera, which is now the lowest in Somaliland and the Somali Peninsula as a whole.

DHYBRID was able to implement the extensive expansion despite the ongoing pandemic and the far-reaching logistical challenges with the help of international partner teams and remote-controlled commissioning.

High energy prices and more and more solar systems

Somalia and the Republic of Somaliland are among the countries with the highest energy prices in the world. The energy system is characterized by isolated city networks with diesel generators. At the same time, the need for electrical energy is growing due to the rapid expansion of infrastructure. The port of Berbera is supposed to improve the flow of goods to Ethiopia with its over 100 million inhabitants and is currently being expanded for almost half a billion dollars. Berbera also has its own airports, which are also supplied with energy by BEC.

In order to improve the energy supply, more and more photovoltaic power plants are being built in addition to existing generators in Somaliland. This change poses major challenges for the grids: “ Different producers in the grid have to be coordinated on an ongoing basis, especially when renewable energies are involved. Otherwise problems with the mains frequency and voltage are inevitable and the available power cannot even be used, ”explains Benedikt Böhm from DHYBRID. “ Just looking at the installed solar power is therefore not enough; good network management is essential. "

Universal Power Platform coordinates decentralized producers

The requirement was clear: Berbera needed a scalable energy supply that we can monitor and manage centrally and that as quickly as possible. DHYBRID has succeeded in both with the Universal Power Platform, the power quality and performance of the network increased noticeably immediately after commissioning, ”says Ibrahim Yaqub, CEO of BEC. The power factor of the entire city network of Berbera has increased by 20 percent. This made the distribution much more resilient and the generation of electricity much more efficient. Additionally, by phasing out large amounts of diesel fuel, Berbera is now the largest city in Somaliland to be powered by renewable energy. In addition, the city now operates the largest battery storage system in the country.

BEC uses the technology-open Universal Power Platform (UPP) from DHYBRID as a process control system and monitors its energy network with the SCADA system from the microgrid specialists from Germany. The term SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition and describes computer-aided systems for monitoring technical systems.

The lithium-ion storage system from DHYBRID can be operated in parallel with the grid or as a grid-forming system. In this operating mode, in conjunction with the UPP, it almost completely rules out network instabilities and faults that are triggered, among other things, by the increasing energy demand.

The project in Somaliland is one of the first in the world to use the patented Maximum Inverter Power Tracking (MIPT) from DHYBRID, which increases the proportion of solar power in microgrids.

I wonder if Somalilanders could crowdfund to build a natural gas plant! Ethiopia issued bonds to fund their Dam. We should do a fundraiser for a natural gas plant and grid system.

Dam it man those Congolese are lucky they got multiple big ass rivers to build dams on and generate electricity.

2. Germany-based DHYBRID has installed a hybrid power system in the Somaliland port city of Berbera. The design includes a total of 8 MW of solar power generation capacity, along with a 2-MWh containerized battery energy storage system and three diesel generators. Courtesy: DHYBRID
The DHYBRID project (Figure 2) in Somaliland, across the Gulf of Aden from Yemen, features two solar PV plants with a total 8 MW of generation capacity, along with a 2-MWh containerized lithium-ion BESS and three diesel generators. The system is connected to local utility Berbera Electricity Co.’s grid.

DHYBRID—a German company that specializes in hybrid power systems—supplied microgrid monitoring and controls technology, including its open-technology Universal Power Platform, and a supervisory control and data acquisition system. The group said the BESS is likely Somaliland’s largest to date, and supports grid stability. The microgrid “has enabled the increase of distribution load-bearing capacity and efficiency of power generation,” according to the company. DHYBRID said the city grid’s power factor has improved by 20% with the addition of the microgrid.

It’s an important project for Berbera, which is expanding its port operations and has sought ways to integrate new solar power generation capacity and improve the reliability of its power supply. “Various generators within the grid must be continuously coordinated, especially when renewable energies are involved. Otherwise, problems with the grid frequency and voltage will become unavoidable, making it impossible to utilize all the available power,” DHYBRID CEO Benedikt Böhm said in a statement. “It is simply not enough to just consider the solar capacity available. Effective grid management is essential.”
