Does she look Somali? Yes. Does she speak Somali? Yes. Looks like a duck. Quacks like a duck.
It's not like Afar people don't look similar to Somalis.

The one on the left is Afar, middle Yemeni, right is Somali.

"There are two people in Djibouti, ciise and afar."
"Ciise and afar are basically the same."
"Ciise and afar speak the same but with different dialects."
:mindblown::umwhat::what::wow1::tacky:

What is up with Somalis and having these weird ass facial features that are so recognizable.

That Afar woman can pass for Amhara, but that Somali woman looks overly Somali.

That Somali girl is better looking in my opinion. :zhqjlmx:

Weird as in so damn specific.

I don't think there's any country with such a specific look. Can you name one? I can't tell Japanese from Koreans, or Norwegians from Germans. But I can tell ethnic Somalis from most Ethiopians 9 out of 10 times.

I've noticed that too. Somalis tend to have flatter features and higher cheekbones. Almost as if we have very ancient East Asian ancestry or something. Khoisan, maybe?

Even the ones with sharp features look ridiculously Somali. This can be a danger for us in the West as it is easy to stereotype us. At least the Bantus can pass for the other blacks n sheeit. For us, Somali is written on our forehead.

That is a blessing. It makes us unique and exotic. I wouldn't give that up for racists.

Yes but we are white people dipped in chocolate :rejoice:
We are set to be the future inheritors of Western civilisation :rejoice:
Nobody out there looks like us because we are royalty :rejoice:

a large segment of Somalis in the West behave in embarrassing ways (welfare fraud, Islamic extremism etc).

It can be a negative.

It's because we're very familiar with Somalis, being Somali, so we can instantly tell one apart from the crowd. Same thing with other people. I've heard Asians say they can tell apart Japanese from Chinese, Chinese from Korean etc. But I highly doubt an ajnabi would be able to say "ah! they're Somali" right at first glance like we can, unless they grew up with them.

You just need to see 10 of them to notice the pattern. Many non-Somalis know how to spot the .

No, they can. Pretty damn easily too.
We are that distinct looking. The difference between Chinese and Koreans is nowhere near the same as the difference between Somalis and Bantus/Africans.

In my experience there are two main types of Somali facial structure.

The first and most recognisable is the large forehead and thinner pointy features.

The second is flatter, high cheekbones and less prominent foreheads.

Yes, you can definitely tell the difference between Bantu Africans and Somalis at first glance, but I'm talking about with neighbouring countries such as Ethiopia and Eritrea. Very hard to tell the difference between us unless you're part of one of these groups.

I've had that happen to me quite a few times actually, where a Non-Somali would immediately recognise I'm Somali. And I'm not even a particularly Somali looking guy, I've Been mistaken for Sudanese, African American and Kenyan. More often than not people assume I'm Somali though.

Oh okay. Maybe it depends on the person then :manny: I get mistaken for xabeshi a lot :bell: and so do some of my friends lol.

Habeshas look extremely different from Somalis. I have been seeing more and more of them in Europe due to the Eritrean refugee wave, and most of them don't look Somali.

Just compared to all other peoples they look closer, but still quite different looking as a group.
