Ukraine was literally betrayed by NATO and the US. They gave up their nukes in the 90s (the third largest stockpile) as they believed in the US and NATO.

Had Ukraine retained their nukes or had NATO accepted Ukraine as a new member, none of this would’ve happened.

Doesn’t it say a lot about Russia that after all that betrayal, Ukraine still wants to join NATO rather than it’s “brotherly nation” Russia.

Doesn’t it highlight clearly how aggressive Russia is.

It's over, russia is landing ground troops in an military airport 20km outside of kyiv.

They also took a lot of the countries energy stations.

I still cant beleive ukraine was once had the third largest nuke stocks but these people should've the lowest IQ by handing over their nukes for nothing. If they happen to had only five nukes russia would've never crossed across their border even if there is no tanks of personnel protecting it but they give up their deterrence for pennies and this is the fate of every stupid who puts his bread first before his security

To be fair to Ukraine, those nukes were set up to hit targets between 5,000 to 10,000km away meaning either the US or sparsely inhabited far-east of Russia.

Also, it would’ve taken Ukraine up to 2 years to even fix the nuclear weapons left behind by the Russians as they were disabled. In that period, they would’ve faced a Russian invasion or US sanctions for not denuclearising as agreed.

when have sanctions brought down regimes of prominent countries? only south africa.

South Africa’s sanctions were next level tho, they were designed to bring the country to destruction.

They didn’t even let their teams take part in international tournaments.

North Korea and Iran take part in the FIFA World Cup.

russia was broken in the 90s. that was ukraines time to help themselves. even if.it took 2 years ukrainians had plenty of engineers and physicists to maintain them. but youre right tho sanctions are scary especially for a new country. dont put your food over your existence.

Even if they fixed the weapons, they were all set to hit targets over 5000km away.

It would’ve been useless against Russia.

They had the knowhow to build nukes and should’ve after 2015 but they didn’t.

good point. but alsoukrainians had plenty of leftover soviet scientists. they could have done a small weapon program when russia was weak in the 90s.

The fault of the West really. The Budapest Memorandum confirmed that the West will guarantee Ukraine’s independence. Other nations also agreed to it.
