Of course, he already did invade it on 2008 but it will be a huge escalation of that happens. Seems to me Putin doesn’t care about Russia’s economy tho. Their gdp is already less than half of California’s and with sanction domestic opinion will certainly be against him.

The only way out is if the West let these regions leave Ukraine then immediately let Ukraine join NATO.

It will be a lose lose for Russia. East Ukraine was never going to rejoin Ukraine and now Russia has extra sanctions on top of Ukraine joining NATO.

It doesn’t make sense for Putin to fully invade Ukraine all the way to Kiev. He should just annex the Russian speaking part and call it a day. If he does go all the way to Kiev which will end up killing thounds and thousands of people. Why risk that when you got Finland who gots longer border and sea route not think twice about joining nato?
