There is no powerful af maay speaking neighbour. I would agree if 2nd language was oromo or amharic or even swahali. But af maay is not a threat to anyone.

Not now, but think decades/a century down the line.

Somalia's population will be in the 50 million range soon. It could cause linguistic based secessionism if the Maay region becomes powerful enough and is unsatisfied for whatever reason.

Catalan vs Spanish are also two closely related languages, yet there is secessionism there.

climate change will prevent that large population, still a large portion of the country is fed by livestock

The Horn of Africa has been experiencing increased rainfall over the past decades and is projected to continue to become slightly wetter over time.

The current drought is an anomaly. Last year there was a grasshopper plague due to the increase in foliage. The occasional droughts won't be significant if they plan for it. Problem is they don't plan for it right now and that's why there are these humanitarian issues.

Somalia does get a lot of rain where every year we experience flooding. majority of that unused water goes into the ground. where it is stored in large aquifers.

The problem is there is a large gap between the rain reasons which is why we get droughts. but hopefully in the next 10 or so years Somalia will be stable and a government can implement projects that cost billions to make sure water scarcity is a thing of the past.

10 years is not enough time to turn qabyaalad self-centred people into a civilised and organised society.

It amazes me that the western leaders always fail in reading the Russians. They judge Russians from their western lenses. Lavrov said that the geopolitics for the west is about oil and geopolitics for the Russians depends on how much suffering the Russian population can take. With that mentality, you can conclude that their pain threshold has not been reached at all despite severe sanctions for decades.

They could become like the Russia of Africa if they united. :damn:
At a certain point, they'll get it right, impossible not too tbh. I read that they had the largest positive change in HDI development in the world over 2013-18. Their growth is going to be something to behold

The VPN service showed the warning on a non-political page (I think they target anything related to Russia irrespective of the content). Not that I don't believe the Russian state is doing its own controlled narrative domestically. But it goes beyond that shaping to be anti-Russian. Funny enough, this thread gave me a notice.

The idea about "Freedom of Speech" they obsess about has Western political exceptionalism — faux moral superiority and freedom-loving posture — branded as an inclusionary progressive ideological tradition, notably, only potent and oftest emphasized in self-aggrandizement in contrast to non-Western cultures that are viewed as lesser. In the matters of practical life, the function of that ideal imagery presents often ignored incongruency and is grounded in power and influence. This conflict has brought to light, in focused terms, that value projection is internally inconsistent that always reaffirms the ruling power philosophy, but ultimately, interest agendas override these values, yet also behaviorally symbiotic.

That could be dealt with mixing, no region, specially the south should kept pure or homogeneous

I don't think that would help. People take up the majority vernacular, even if they come from different regions.

There is no point in that language anyway. Just being different for the sake of being different. They need to switch to Maxaa, there is no point in causing linguistic divides, only more inefficiency.
