Maakhir University project aims at providing higher education in all fields to produce qualified manpower who would, hence, meet market demands in the country. The project includes building campus, lecture rooms, laboratories, sports arenas, libraries, computer rooms, dormitories and other college services.

Project cost: $4 million dollars

Who's funding for this ? Why do we need university when we have savages living east and west from us . We need weapons not books at this time.

The Sanaag/Maakhir diaspora community has been the university's main sponsor since the outbreak of Somalia's civil war in the early 1990s.[1] Members purchased equipment from abroad, which they then sent to the institution. The latter contributions include vehicles and office equipment. Expatriates from the region have also contributed to the construction of a new university campus, a project that has been in the works for the last couple of years.[2]

Additionally, through its representative to Kuwait, Faisal Hawar, the Puntland government signed an agreement in Dubai with a Kuwaiti company for the development of facilities at Maakhir University as well as the Garowe International Airport. The deal was valued at $10 million USD and was financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development(KFAED).[3]

This is why I support the Arab League They're (alongside Turkey) our biggest allies and helpers.

Very nice! Sanaag will see some great development soon. The El-Dahir-Erigavo highway will also enable lots of development. Guul Puntland, Guul Maakhir.

Talk about misplaced priorities. They don't have sufficient, clean water. There isn't any elementary, middle or high school that exists in Badhan that could be considered decent to say the least. So, the question is, who in the world is going to attend this university?

This is why Somalia will never prosper. These people do not know where to begin. Building a house from the roof down. lol

They need computers, and more technological facilities to compete with other african univserties let alone become an elite university

However it is the way forward, we must compete on being the best not who can cause the most violence
