I don't get this whole thing of showing one or two random people and acting like they are representative of their entire ethnicity. If you're only going by a small number of people, you have no idea how representative they actually are.

That's overly simplistic. I think @Garaad Awal has a point. These groups are not a good enough proxies. Gene flow is often bi-directional and likely occurred in a non-linear time series and these events are most likely much older than suggested. That is my theory.

The cringest thing I hear is them claim they are an ancient mix of Nilotic and West Asian.
They see light reflectance in their skin, stick arms and some height and automatically assume some primordial Dinka-like figure is their ancestor. I don't think so.For all we know Ancient East African Huntergatherers could have looked more Omotic or Hadza like. Since when did Nilotes become the poster children for AEA.

The thing is Somalis don't have much ancestry from those HGs.It's only groups like the Oromos,Konso etc that are substantially admixed by those HGs.Somalis range from 0-10% Ethio HG ancestry.
