Out of air? It is a fact that there weren't any Madahib, no shafici maliki shia Ibadi, etc. It was all politics. Othman wasn't as effective as Omar or Abu bakr. There was Ghulat led by the Yemeni Jew Ibn Saba who claimed Ali was God وعياذ بالله and Ali RA burned his followers alive and exiled Ibn Saba but his views survived among the Shia groups and one of the major ones who have that or carry those views are the rafidha 12er sect , the Nusiryris and the Ismailis who all appeared in late 3rd century and early 4th centaury
