Short form content is destroying peoples mind

As you already know every social media app and non social media apps e.g reddit, YouTube all now have short form content pushed heavily and there's no escape. A lot of you I know can't escape from it and get hooked on it for a very longtime. But this form of content effects the mind by making you more impatient and less interested in longer content less excited with things, and more detached from family and friends. Interacting people in the long run will become more difficult as your consuming hundreds of short content becoming less interested in communicating. I hate it myself and avoid it as I noticed the impacts it had on me. Imshallah this form of content gets a worldwide ban. I also hate how it pushes hate and racism it brainwashes people easily and don't get me started how easily videos can go viral and the comment sections being extremely toxic. I know people that got depression and is traumatised because of short content media.

Never had an active TikTok account and never will inshallah. The antithesis of anything productive and beneficial

Sometimes when I watch a really informative and detailed video, I see kids in the comment section complaining about the person "yapping". They really can't watch a regular video LOL

p.s. did basra just give a normal answer? :ftw9nwa:

That’s why I deleted TikTok app and many more. I only have YouTube and instagram.

Alhamdulilah I never had any social media account other than Facebook (for a short time) and youtube (now)

The problem is these shorts is being inforced to us by these companies.

My focus span is destroyed and I get bored easily.

The only solution I think is you use the laptop or PC so you don't fall to these traps.

It's so bad that no one can sit through reading a book or even watch an hour of an engaging documentary.
as an older Somali grandmother says "Qalbi-Cammo" has inflicted us all.

Qalbi = heart
Cammo= Arabic word for blind...Hence why in the south people would call a blind person, camoole.

"Blind hearts" ... would be the translation..
that is the literal translation
but people use to mean to someone with a short attention span that is forget ful. (For instance, Gen Z)
Ok I am from south somalia xamar and I never heard someone referring blind person as camoole
But In xamar I heard people call blind person indhoole
Also doesn't qalbi mean mind and not heart

I completely disabled youtube shorts and advertisements.

I use tiktok as a timewaster and memes. Other then that its useless, their search is actual garbage, all news take at least 2 days to appear on it.

Reddit is useless other then u have a question about something very niche or small community.

I mean I also use this forum too, if you use this forum and are engaging with it you really arent affected by the short videos too much. Try getting an addict to use a forum

its good to soak in and watch animal documentaries that are 1 hour. very slow paced narration of the animal kingdom, it will help massively retain your ability to stay concentrated while also being entertained
