Thats not the right comparison. The US is not a failed state and they dont have attacks on the regular.
Look at Sudan or Ireland. They did and they thriving. I see the same scenario for Somaliland.

The Balkan war has never stopped and is only paused while they reap the benefits of the EU before they go back to fighting each other.
The other countries that peacefully split is usually due to big foreign powers interfering and the smaller seceding states tend to be client states of those powers.

Somalia itself is not united so how can Somalia demand unityUnder conditions that the SL government respects the sovereignty an unity of Somalia. Their whole claim to Northern Somalia is pathetic.
