There are two other entities, the Somali Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Somalia, which the people of Somaliland nor their representatives had any say in the creation of, and if the power and legitimacy of a government comes from the people, they are therefore illegitimate representatives of SL people. JSL may have been created in the 90s officially but that was a delayed response to the usurpation of the Somali state much earlier.

The coup that killed the rightful President of Somalia in '69 killed Somali unity, and only a referendum in both SL and Somalia can restore it.

Not true at all, the main reason being international community not wanting to start any more independent movement not only in Somalia but especially in East Africa where there is much tension in that region.

So basically in the end it's doesn't really matter how legit Somaliland claim is because they are afraid of causing chain reactions in the region.

Educate yourself saaxib, Somaliland claim is one of the best one can wish for as separatist region.

Add to the fact that we don't have Spain, Iraq, Iran, Turkey essentially big nations opposing us but a fragile puppet state in a volatile region.
