I think it only appeals to people on hard drugs or people who are a bit mental and think about that stuff already. the appeal is mostly the same as those 80's slasher films, like intentionally cheesy and over the top. i personally dig it. it's nothing serious tho as it's all fantasy, but there are people who aren't that discerning but at the same time have this double standard towards hip hop lyrics

But slasher culture hasn't quite taken off like rap culture lol Only weirdos idolise serial killers and emulate them even on a superficial level whereas we can't say that about gangster rap. Gangster rap is selling a criminal lifestyle to the masses and it only really sells if you've been a gangster before. There isn't that requirement with hard core rock.

honestly gangsta rap died in popularity long ago. the days of g-unit and the likes being top dog are long gone. think of the most popular hip hop artists today, they're either pseudo-concsious dudes like kendrick and j cole or rap about sipping lean and having sex

i'd say drill music which u can say is the gangsta rap of today is comparable in popularity to the more popular metal acts
