Slaves in rasulid yemen

I'm reading this book on slavery in yemen jn the rasulid period. What i find very peculiar is she mentions zayla and Mogadishu and ethiopia. Bur never somalia as a coherent territory and this section here where the obvious link between mogadishu and zayla being that they're both somali is never mentioned. She even claims migadishu as part of bilad as zanj which is weird when she also uses ibn battua as a source in this book elsewhere yet never mentions bilad al beber. I honestly think we should call this the somali question in africa muslim historiography. Since I see this everywhere.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Although I'm skeptical about these yemeni merchants since it seems that in the 19th century somalis were the ones brining goods to aden. Also still no connection made between somalis and jabartis.
