I remember when I was a kid attending Wacdi, where this insane Wahabi Sheikh indoctrinated us. He insisted that whenever we heard the Quran or Hadiths being recited, we had to cry out of love and respect. During prayers, everyone started crying loudly, and I couldn’t help but laugh so hard that I had to run away Now, this reminds me of that moment this old man has no idea how cringe and foolish he looks crying in front of everyone

Tbf some people cry when hearing the Quran. Nothing shameful nor is it some to mock. During Taraweeh the iman leading Salah was crying during Surah Yasin. Surah Tawkir always makes me cry.

Haa gaal weye
The word 'gaal' comes from 'galla,' which was used to refer to present-day Oromos. Before the arrival of Islam, Somalis practiced paganism and worshiped Waaq, a religion that has largely disappeared, although some Oromos still follow it today. Traces of this Religion can still be seen in different Somali towns and clans, like Caabudwaaq, known as the city of Waaq worship, and Jidwaaq, which translates to the road to Waaq. However, I consider myself an atheist.

The guy is clearly sufi, wahabis have full grown beards and wear saudi cimaamads not green turban ones. You can't tell the difference between them.

First qashin I've given on this forum I think

The ˹true˺ believers are only those whose hearts tremble at the remembrance of Allah, and whose faith increases when His verses are recited to them, and who put their trust in their Lord.

Waaq isn't pagan, it's the word of god in Somali. Somalis were most likely monethistic people.

I will look over your r/Atheism vibes and reply to your comment.

Some people have an emotional reaction to the Quran because it has sentimental feelings for them. However reason and decorum is required especially in the mosque.
