Wasnt it not first used by north africans and middle easterners? Ancient egyptians were the first people to use it for adornment. The plant itself is said to have come from the arid climates of north africa. Therefore south asians are culturally appropriating north african culture. Also designs came from ancient egypt as cleopatra herself used to use henna as temporary tattoos on her hands and arms.

Indians and East Africa are long trade routes, it's called the Indian ocean for a reason. There is links with Ancient Egypt and India as well, similar religions. Human demographics change.
