somali christians

I think they are evangelists who try to spread the bible either by learning the language or via social media accounts. They want to interact with our community and normalise christianity.

However some of these accounts could very well be real as somali christians do exist and somehow are growing slightly in number. However muslims will be the majority regardless so I would just say pay them no mind. Its their own format of โ€œdawahโ€

Yes, they definitely want to normalise christianity but I donโ€™t believe that theyโ€™re growing even a little .. the christian somali โ€™communityโ€™ barely exists.

I think theyโ€™re silly and their weird deceptive tactics wont work but im still alarmed over somalis back home not being able to tell that itโ€™s AI ๐Ÿ’€

Most Somalis turn away from Islam not to go to Christianity but to Atheism. A lot of those accounts are just tryna convert you. They arent Somali especially if they are using AI photos and videos. Somalis would show their face and preach. I forgot which sub-section of their religion does it but they constantly preach and go all over the world to convert you. They've been tryna convert Somalis for centuries but hasnt worked at all. Very persistent people.

Yes, if anything thereโ€™s an increase in agnostics/athiests not christians.

I respect their dedication though ๐Ÿ˜‚

I do think personally there are more somali non muslims than ever before and this is significantly noticed in the diaspora. however they are normally athiest/agnostic and not christian so that leads straight onto your point. Theres some sort of an agenda behind these accounts.

There used to be a community of Somali Christianโ€™s in Italy that moved there for school/work pre civil war or got brought over there by missionaries during colonialism but by now majority of them have mixed with Italians and are barely Somali. Catholicism is the main choice amongst Somalis that decided to turn to Jesus.

Honestly converting from islam to christianity has to be the most stupid thing ever. Both are abrahamic religions and are people of the book. The bible sometimes looks like the Quran translated in English with how similar the stories are. The bible is just more tanpered with.

Plus the trinity i don't understand how you could reject a monotheistic framework for a trinitarian one.

I like to believe a merciful god would make it away that a person even if they never came across Islam or any monotheistic religion would still be able to come to a monotheistic foundation if they thought enough.

This is even highlighted in Abraham story in the Quran.
[Remember] when Ibrahim said to his uncle, Azar, โ€œDo you take idols for gods? Surely I see you and your people in manifest error.โ€ Thus We were showing Ibrahim the kingdom of the heavens and the earth so that he might be of (al-muqinin) those who are sure [of their faith].

So when the night outspread over Ibrahim, he saw a star; he said, โ€œThis is my Lord.โ€ But when the star set [in the morning,] he said, โ€[This cannot be my Lord because it has passed away,] I do not like the transitory [gods].โ€

[On the next night,] when he saw the moon rising, he said, โ€œThis is my Lord.โ€ But when the moon set he said, โ€œIf my Lord had not guided me, then I shall surely be of (adh-dhaliyn) the people who have gone astray.โ€

[In the morning,] when Ibrahim saw the sun rising, he said, โ€œThis must be my Lord [because] this is greater [than the star and the moon!]โ€ But when the sun set, he said, โ€œO my people, surely I am free from what you associate [with Allah.] I have sincerely turned myself to Him who originated the heavens and the earth, and I am not one of the polytheists.โ€
So its so backwards imo to move from monotheism to trinitarism especially you were educated in either.

I find Christianity more appealing than Islam. Itโ€™s a lot more lenient, so I am not to surprised when I see people convert to Christianity from Islam. They still want to lead religious life without it negatively affecting every aspect of theirs.

I don't know about that. It's just Christians nowadays are very secularised. Christianity has the exact same values on all the main social issues like LGBT, women's rights etc with islam, again, it's just been changed by people to fit their own belief system. Similar to how albanians or Bosnians view islam.

Our sis acting like Christian "fundamentalists" and Muslim "fundamentalists" wouldn't love each other if it wasn't for in-group bias and racism. They have seriously all of the same values and world-views which is to say, values and world-views that were shaped during Classical Antiquity Period of the Middle East (~700 BCE to ~5-600 CE). Christian women of Medieval Europe who were married pretty much all wore "hijabs":

Gaalo have simply watered down, secularized and "liberalized" Christianity. It is pretty much of the same tradition as Islam. To be honest, medieval Christians at times didn't even see Islam as a separate faith but merely as a "heretical" form of Christianity itself. There's a reason the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Ali (RA) are depicted in the 9th circle of hell (Canto 28) of Dante's Inferno as โ€œsowers of religious discordโ€. Dante saw the Prophet as someone who caused a schism within the body of Christianity โ€” not someone who founded a wholly foreign religion.

We are of the same religious tradition as these people. They've just mucked about with theirs more.

I have noticed what ever sect Somalis have, they always identify very much with their Somali identity.

I have seen ppl on r/xsomalian defending ICU, or advocating for the independence of Galbeed.

And I seen Somali Christians on tiktok who have the greater Somalia map ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ
