Somali Cultural Clothing are the new fashion 'Trend' for African women.

It’s mainly Black African Muslim women adopting Somali clothing. First it was the East Africans and now it’s the West Africans jumping on the bandwagon.

It was one thing for their mothers to buy baatis from the Somali aunties and wear it at home but now, the younger generation is being directly influenced by Somali girls online. Hence the whole baati parties and pulling the baati back to show the shape challenge. All trends started by Somali girls.

These people remind me of Koreans who deny how much of Kpop and modern Korean culture/fashion is just a ripoff of African American aesthetics and music genres like RnB and Hiphop. Just like them, many Africans love to imitate Somali culture but hate giving credit.

Wallahi I feel sympathetic to the African Americans. Their culture is called Ghetto but everyone wants to act like it's just "standard" culture and use it. Considering their history, it is incredible they have created their own culture that is so vast in a relatively short period of time. Sure it has it's issues but so does every other culture.

seriously that golden headwear is stunning i don't know why they would copy other people with such a beautiful culture. i would wear that everyday if i was afar or haraghe oromo. i wish i could find a Somali amulet.
Forgot to mention that it might be a harari headpiece. They not only took over Harar land, but also took what they liked from their culture 😭

Keep that same energy when they start claiming our land, then our language. I have many Oromo people on TikTok who I listen to. I know a little Oromo, and they are really serious about getting the land of Somalis. There was this old man who was very angry about the Xeer Cisse in DirDhaba, and he wasn’t angry because they had it. They don’t like Cisse because, unlike some Somali clans on the border, they are very pro-Somali, and Oromo have attempted to assimilate them many times and failed. So, saxiib, their attack on us is coming from every side. Look at what is taking place in Puntland; this isn’t a scare.

Leave those beautiful Habesha girls alone. At least they acknowledge it as Somali, unlike those Bantus. And you lot look obsessed, going to other communities TikToks just to complain. If anything, you should see the business opportunity, start a baati store and modernize it instead of crying over people embracing your culture.

You are pathetic, thirsty and have a fixation on Bantus. Unlike your sassy self, we gatekeep our culture from all groups and don't bend over because we think one group is more or less attractive than the other. Get some self respect.

I have seen your previous posts and you seem the type to leave nasty comments about Bantu people online. Oradoo shaqo yeelo, you weirdo.

Who gives a shit all the dudes in here wear jeans and sweatpants daily should I give credit to the white man every time I put on my clothes? If I put on a suit does that mean I want to capture the “swagger” of the white man? Or should y’all explain in ur bio that u were influenced by arabs whenever u take a picture in an abaya? What is it that u even want for them to not wear it or u want credit whenever they put ur shit on? Most these people don’t know where it’s from and probably don’t give a shit.

I have never attacked people unprovoked. Lately, I have seen a lot of Somali bashing from Bantus, so I have developed a disdain for them.

They acknowledge that it's Somali by calling it baati. What more do we want them to do? This is where y'all take gatekeeping too far.

We should be grateful because this means baati will become more popular, creating more opportunities for Somalis to make money. And further putting our culture out there
