Somali Cultural Clothing are the new fashion 'Trend' for African women.

It’s mainly Black African Muslim women adopting Somali clothing. First it was the East Africans and now it’s the West Africans jumping on the bandwagon.

It was one thing for their mothers to buy baatis from the Somali aunties and wear it at home but now, the younger generation is being directly influenced by Somali girls online. Hence the whole baati parties and pulling the baati back to show the shape challenge. All trends started by Somali girls.

These people remind me of Koreans who deny how much of Kpop and modern Korean culture/fashion is just a ripoff of African American aesthetics and music genres like RnB and Hiphop. Just like them, many Africans love to imitate Somali culture but hate giving credit.
What are the major differences between Somali and Sahel/Maurtani dress?

Keep that same energy when they start claiming our land, then our language. I have many Oromo people on TikTok who I listen to. I know a little Oromo, and they are really serious about getting the land of Somalis. There was this old man who was very angry about the Xeer Cisse in DirDhaba, and he wasn’t angry because they had it. They don’t like Cisse because, unlike some Somali clans on the border, they are very pro-Somali, and Oromo have attempted to assimilate them many times and failed. So, saxiib, their attack on us is coming from every side. Look at what is taking place in Puntland; this isn’t a scare.
How did you learn Oromo? That is so niche. And what's going on in Puntland with the oromos?

I don't understand why they'd be jealous of Xeer Cisde. Isn't that just a law system utilised by the community. These people are so weird saxiib

I don't see anything wrong with it. Somali women should take it as a compliment, why gatekeep clothes?

I do have a problem with people claiming it as theirs but as long as they aren't, what's the issue?

Oromo is very easy to pick up on compared to Amharic. I used to speak with the workers of this one family and they just taught me it.

Stop being salty and

Stop acting salty by gate keeping African culture and rather try to contribute something to human civilization you Zoo - Maali. P.S apologies in advance in aderey, just some constructive criticism from your fellow Majertiti.
Why are you calling your fellow people that term? Hows this African culture when its Somali culture. Saying Zoo-mali is crazy you some savage beast or what? There's better ways to formulate your thoughts please educate yourself. We got the most dumbest people amongst us. I rarely ever see other groups use a derogatory term towards their own people this is disgusting.

I really don't understand why some of these men are storming the topic, acting like babysitters for foreign culture vultures. If they lack cultural pride and identity that's a THEM issue.

Walaal, I have lived in many parts of Oromia due to my connections with some people, so I did my research. What influenced the Oromo expansion is said to be an ideology called *Liqimssa*, which roughly translates to "Swallower." It essentially refers to the idea of consuming people one by one until there was nothing left that wasn’t Oromo.

As for the Xeer Ciise, it’s quite simple. It demonstrated that Somalis are still present and thriving. The Issa are one of the clans the Oromo expansion reached, yet they managed to survive it. I believe this was due to their Xeer.

They're not angry at Xeer Ciise they're angry that the Ciise community in Dirdhaba came out in large numbers to celebrate, they felt threatened. The next day they were out on the streets as if to reaffirm the claim that the city is theirs.

Xeer is law and Xeer Cisse is an old form of law use by the Ciise clan of Somalis that live across Djibouti, Somalia and the occupied somali region of Ethiopia. They used this law to carry out justice much like state law/government. It recently received Uneseco status making it the first Uneseco award Somalia has ever been part of (besides this, there is none).

Who does Dir Dhaba originally belong to? It's the Somali region right? Are they trying to claim Somali cities there as well? Bisinka.

How did they come out the next day? I'm assuming Ciises were celebrating and then the oromos held celebrations the next day? Uuf, scary.

No it's a chartered city like Addis Ababa. The name itself should tell you who the original inhabitants are.
