I didn't see anyone complaining. Can you show me about those who don't have a voice? If they're complaining, I can understand that, but I didn't see anyone doing so. Just because they're quite doesn't mean that they're voiceless! I have seen videos about somali women working and some of them were doing it volunteering. I didn't see anyone forcing them to do so.

My aunt recently came back from a visit to Somalia and was shocked at meeting a heavily pregnant woman doing tough labour. According to her, women do the brunt of the work both outside and inside the home whilst the men are more likely to work part time and use their free time to socialise and gossip in cafes like old women. Many Somali men not just at home have lost their masculinity and expect women to be mothers and housewives whilst bringing home a stable income. I love how Somali women are always willing to rebuild their country and are not afraid of getting their hands dirty but they’ve been shamefully exploited, abused and overworked as a result.

You asked who made me their spokesperson, but first answer who it is you are so vehemently defending right now. Because I guarantee it’s not those women as there is not a soul who likes to be over burdened. Those who do it, only do so because they have no other choice.

I can't speak to the stable income part. I didn't see that when I went back home but money remittance has made people very lazy and ungrateful. The women take care of the home and the men do...nothing. I always wonder what they're going to do when Millenial & generation Z Somalis refuse to send money.

As someone whose been to both Somalia and Djibouti , I have noticed this problem is almost 90% affecting Somalia.

My understanding why is as follows:
Jaad addiction , Somalia’s cultural aversion of hard labor being ‘beneath’ Somali men, and misogyny.

In Djibouti , women would roast a guy if he doesn’t work , but in Somalia I don’t see the same criticism, and women also In somalia keep each other down in a way. For the ladies that want to work construction in Somalia, they can try to wear construction clothes , but other women will put them down along with men. But they should at least try. Also women in Somalia don’t demand anything of their husbands,fathers,sons so that’s an issue.

I can also say somali men in Somalia mentally mostly have given up and have gotten used to being lazy.
