Linguistically the Isaaq dialect and the Darod dialect are closer to each other than any one of them is to the others.

For me, eastern waqooyi and reer mudug Somali are nearly indistinguishable except for a few words. Western waqooyi can sometimes be unintelligible to me

Also, some Reer Gedo for example speak with a strange accent, as well as Reer Waamo who have their own distinct accent.

But compared to something like Benadiri, they're much closer to each other especially when written.

It's a tribal map, probably made by a white person. There are dozens of somali accents buy only really two dialects (languages if you think may is a language)

Reer Gedo sound somewhat like Reer Mudug, but have a weird twist that is probably due to contact with Maay.

Dialects must correspond somewhat to clan because you will find old men in Garissa and Waamo who speak the galbeed dialect. These dialects must be fairly new for close generations to speak so differently.
