Linguistically the Isaaq dialect and the Darod dialect are closer to each other than any one of them is to the others.
For me, eastern waqooyi and reer mudug Somali are nearly indistinguishable except for a few words. Western waqooyi can sometimes be unintelligible to me
Also, some Reer Gedo for example speak with a strange accent, as well as Reer Waamo who have their own distinct accent.
But compared to something like Benadiri, they're much closer to each other especially when written.
