You definitely keep the citizenship regardless if you got it by birth or naturalization. What changes is if you hold citizenship by birth in either the US or Canada and you decide to start a family abroad your kids can even inherit the citizenship from you as well.

I think you're right. Birthright citizenship is pretty rare in developed countries outside of North America.
