Somali diasporas greatest advantage

Something i realized after thinking about our diaspora for a while. And it hit me like a truck although on hindsight it's pretty obvious. The greatest advantage somalis have in the diaspora is that we love building insututiosnf for some reason. Charter schools, dugsi, museums, culutral organizations, businesses, etc, . It was only after I started to think about other immigrant groups that I realized how odd it is that we do this. The onky other people that I'm aware of who do something like this at the scale we do is jews and the Chinese. I mean have you eve head of any affican immigrants besides somalis open up their own charter schools?

Are obsession with building parallel instutions i suspect will have massive benefits over the long term im thinking 30-40 years down the line.

Years ago in places like Tanzania and South Africa people still call Somalis the jews of Africa. Somalis would pool money together and start a business, hire only Somalis for the entire work place and profits would then be invested in another Somali who would start another business in a different city or district.

Newly arrived African Immigrants are always amazed at this, seen a couple of videos of them talking about this.

Also a lot of Somali concentrated areas like in America especially operate like self sustaining towns and villages.

not only that but the civil war allowed somali communties to spread around the world, you will find what you are talking about in multiple different countries and cities. If you are a believe there is a good side to everything, then the civil wars good side was certainly this

Making gains in business is always good for the future of the diaspora. Hopefully we'll continue this and one day form an organization commited to development in Somalia.

Just like the uhds and Chinese we Somalis want to preserver our culture and identity because we are different and we all as a community understand this. Now the hand of other african there issue is hating themselves and wanting to lose their identity as soon as possible. they believe in the Kumbayaism of melting pot of african americanism.
