Somali Digest: Hawadle Clan Militias Liberate Ceel Baraf

Macawisley clan militias from the Hawadle clan have successfully liberated the town of Ceel Baraf in Middle Shabelle region from Al-Shabab control. However, in a move that has raised eyebrows and sparked debate among local residents and political observers, the Hawadle militias have called on their traditional rivals, the Abgal clan, to return to Ceel Baraf and help defend their hometown against potential Al-Shabab counterattacks.

The liberation of Ceel Baraf comes amid a recent resurgence of Al-Shabab activity in Middle Shabelle, which has seen the extremist group seize control of several key towns and villages in the region, putting the Somali government and its security forces on the defensive. Despite ongoing military operations and international support, Al-Shabab has proven to be a resilient and adaptable adversary, exploiting local grievances and clan rivalries to maintain its presence and expand its influence in the region.

The Hawadle Intervention

The Al-Shabab occupation of Ceel Baraf might have become just another footnote in the long and bloody history of the conflict in Middle Shabelle, were it not for the intervention of the Hawadle Macawisley clan militias. These groups, which are made up of local volunteers and clan warriors, have been fighting alongside the SNA and other government forces in the region, seeking to protect their communities and defend their traditional lands from Al-Shabab and other extremist groups.

According to local sources and eyewitness accounts, the Hawadle militias launched a surprise attack on Ceel Baraf, catching the Al-Shabab militants off guard and quickly overwhelming their defenses. The militias, which were armed with a mix of small arms, machine guns, and rocket-propelled grenades, engaged in fierce house-to-house fighting with the militants, eventually forcing them to abandon the town and flee into the surrounding countryside.

The liberation of Ceel Baraf was a significant victory for the Hawadle militias and a major setback for Al-Shabab in Middle Shabelle. The town had been an important hub for the group’s operations in the region, serving as a base for its fighters and a center for its recruitment and indoctrination efforts. By driving the militants out of Ceel Baraf, the Hawadle militias had struck a blow at the heart of Al-Shabab’s presence in the area and sent a powerful message about the resilience and determination of local communities in the face of extremism and violence.

The only South-Central clan that is honest and/or brave. They are not even a large clan and look at their efforts. Bravo.

Dadkaan kale hadal uma yaala, iska aamusa and don't dare do FKD in coffee shops or online.
These knuckle-draggers are all engaged in clan-warfare and either terrified of AlShaydaan or part and parcel of the terror network.

Will a brave group rise up from among them? Stay tuned for the next episode of "Excuses & Booto"- South-Central AlShababia.

This is their most pressing concern and cuqdad. A widely held view among them I’m sure. Such people will never liberate themselves.

Sure, but why can’t the tribe who owns it liberate it and keep it? Makes zero sense.

Abgaal and mursade need to do better smh
SNA led by Murusade freed Ceelbuur 2 years ago but HSM told them to come back kkkk. You have to remember Ceelbuur and Galhereeri districts don’t have AU troops or foreign bases nearby like they do in Hiiraan nor do we share an extensive borders with Ethiopia like Guriceel nor do we have the sea to protect us like Xaradheere so we could use them both to protect our rears. We are literally an island surrounded by Shabaab on all sides. Only way we could free our lands is to at least help free Abgaal dhul 1st which is what we are doing now. Our boys are holding it down SH dhexe. At the end of the day Hawiye lands will be free of shabaab when Kheyre becomes president. I have said this years back.
