There are plenty of non-Somalis that lead prayers at Somali mosques. Somalis should worry about racism from South Asians who are 10x your size in the UK than virtually nonexistent racism from jolly English people who almost all like or are indifferent to you.

I remember when a South Asian London mosque blamed a Somali worker when a leftist reporter was kicked out of the mosque when it was the South Asians who did it themselves. I think it was a day where community members were encouraged to visit mosques.

This brings back memories of how they would randomly grab me and a few other kids by the shoulder and move us to the tightest spots. Like Damn why are you manhandling me. And the Quran lessons were never pleasant. I told my parents I never wanted to go back and I never had too.

In a masjid smh, wallahi call me a child but I become more disillusioned by the day realising how ingrained discrimination is in our society

This behaviour is all too common from South Asian Muslims. You're one of the few who stood up to the abuse. Others may not even see it as abuse. This is why it's important to be racist to South Asians. Otherwise, Somalis are not safe and sooner or later, they'll put you under a newly created Hindu-style caste system. It already informally exists now.

The one thing I love about the UK is our rights, mental health & all forms of discrimination are protected here. I had a friend in uni who had ADHD, and the UK government would pay for her cabs to and from uni. And this is the type of initiative Somalis in the UK need to start doing: less complaining and more legal action. We need to start suing & taking toxic workplaces/people to court. That man really thought the UK was South Asia or his household and tried to silence a Somali woman. He met his match, and I hope he has learned his lesson.

Somalis in Europe have their own mosques. You're way more likely to see Ajnabi in Somali mosques than the other way around. Please don't spread messages that Somalis want to be in the same islamic spaces as Asians.
Lol this ain’t true. Thousands of Somalis in the UK pray and are on good terms with folks in Asian run mosques. My local mosque is actually Pakistani Sufi but many Somalis send their kids to the Madarasah with no issues. And Somalis used to pray in Pakistani Mosques before they established their own mosques.

Somalis and Pakistanis/Bengali Muslims in the Uk generally have a good relationship in the mosques, schools, sports activities and in universities.
I would say they are probably the closest community to Somalis in the UK on par with Algerians/Moroccans.

I don’t think it’s fair to categorise entire communities as not wanting to be in each other spaces over a few stories. I think Somalis are actually quite hard to deal with as the rise of Salafiya means many Somalis don’t understand fiqh differences or madhabs. I have seen Somalis become angry with Pakistani Muslims when their local mosques chose not to follow Saudi Eid and the Somalis thought it was waajib to follow Saudi moon sighting. I have witnessed Somalis bring their unruly children to Taraweeh in Pakistani mosques. Seen them constantly talking loudly, sometimes
even about Somali politics in the masjid.

In some places in Europe, Somali mosque committees fell out over qabil and shamefully started opening mosques associated with qabils. I think there is a thing or two Somalis can learn from Asians when it comes to mosque management.

Overall, I would not say Somalis have major issues in Pakistani mosques. Obviously people more comfortable in their own spaces.
