Somalis are representatives of the black/african people when it suits black people then scapegoated and ostracized when one person does something out the norm.
The comments are screaming "They are not french" like that's the point of the tweet.
This inconsistent treatment reflects a broader insecurity and selective group identification.
Honestly both those responses are an extension of their deeply held insecurities and complexes.
Black/African people don't like the way they look(eurocentric programming), they don't want to marry one another , they don't support one another( Lack of group economics) , they seek outside approval(foreigners control their economies/industries/neighborhoods) and are white worshiping.
So because Somalis are unlike them in all of this. This creates admiration from some and resentment from others, leading to passive-aggressive treatment.
Our basic existence is inferiority inducing to a lot of them and contradicts their deeply held beliefs that they hold about themselves , the wider African people and how we run contrary to how they move or operate.
When they try to project animosity is them trying to bring us down a notch, or seperate us from the African collective so they can feel comfortable with themselves and self regulate.
For example the "Separation Strategy" is in order to maintain self-regulation. Some people attempt to distance Somalis from the broader Black/African category to maintain comfort within their own struggles. This separation allows them to avoid confronting their own societal challenges. By excluding Somalis when convenient, they self-regulate their identity without challenging their current situation.
If Somalis achieve something positive, they are claimed as African representatives to uplift the collective image. When a Somali individual does something controversial or negative, they are scapegoated and “othered” to maintain distance.

Many Black/African people suffer from Eurocentric beauty standards, economic dependency, and internalized self-doubt.
Somalis do not conform to this pattern, they marry within, support their own businesses, and maintain strong ethnic identity.
This triggers resentment and projection, as Somalis represent what many feel they lack.

i still don't get why they pull us in all there beefs. Why aren't they showing west or central African to represent there own beauty standards? Ive always pushed a notion that Horner's should stop claiming Africa but strictly the Horn. This would have aided us because cadaan would understand the difference between us. For instance why aren't they using North Africans ?

Because they dislike the way they look? Somalis fit an approximation to those standards but also firmly share skin colour with them. Basically Somalis/Horners have features that both align with and deviate from broader Black/African beauty norms. North Africans are often excluded from "Black beauty" conversations due to lighter skin and Arab identity ties
There is nothing inherently or even objectively ugly or bad about West/Central African appearance/features , i believe they can be beautiful just as much as East Africans or North Africans but they are programmed by white society to think otherwise. It's not something that comes natural to them.
But the pendulum also swings in the other direction almost like a double edged sword, just as we are praised for our looks , they will also attack us for our looks to bring us down a notch so they can feel more comfortable with themselves or have a knee jerk reaction because we deviate from how they believe black people should look like(in reality African groups are diverse) in order to self regulate their negative inner feelings they have about their own appearance. Being perceived as "different" in the Black/African spectrum makes Somalis both idealized and attacked.
To be honest growing up i didn't get an impression that Somalis invested a whole lot importance on their appearance or looks, not even their hair which they covered(women) or cut short (men). So we never put the same level of emphasis on beauty. We focused more on family, social ties, culture, work and religion,
West/Central Africans were historically told their features were undesirable, creating deep insecurities. This led to an obsession with beauty, self-image, and external validation.
To put in laymans term. Black/African people hyper focus and obsess over their looks or even hair because they are deeply self-concious and insecure about it. Consequently Somalis are often placed in debates they didn’t ask to be in as extension of this.
In my opinion Somalis should focus on defining their own narrative rather than reacting to how others perceive them. Somalis should focus on strengthening their economy, building their culture from within, rather than engaging in superficial beauty debates.

Let me show you like an example of this. Someone shared this link a while ago and i thought was incredibly bizarre behaviour at the time but now it makes more sense to me
An African American teacher ripped off forcefully a Somali girls hijab and made video saying ''Pretty hair. All that hair covered up.""
What you can see from this is that we place importance on different things. They place value on beauty or ''pretty hair" whilst we place value on modesty and self-respect
This is rooted in fundamental differences in values. Also again we are placed into positions that we never asked for just as an extension of this.

I don't think that video was particularly deliberate xasiidnimo by Black women. I think she was expressing what she felt and perceived in terms of what she found to be beautiful whilst also being ignorant of Islam and Hijab. She couldn't fathom why she had it covered, when she would have shown it off. That's the point of view she operated with.
I must emphasize though i really haven't had negative interactions with other Black/African women or men in real life , it's mostly been cordial. I am just adding my two cents on these debates and discussions i see online and whats in the heart of it all. And that Somalis should largely just see it for what it really is and subsequently ignore and dismiss it.
