Intelligence worried about Hersi Ali Haji Hassan’s downward slide
“Somaliland Intelligence worried about Hersi Ali Haji Hassan’s downward slide Ethiopian and Western intelligence services are keeping a careful track of the activity of the former Minister to the Presidency, Hersi Ali Haji Hassan. After failing his attempted coup against President Ahmed Mohamed Mahamoud, known as Silanyo ( ION 1414), he has been looking for any means possible to destabilise Hargeisa. According to our sources, Hersi Ali Haji Hassan, who claims to be at the head of a $40 million fortune, reportedly financed the construction of an improvised and unauthorised port at EilGerde. The intelligence services suspect him of wanting to import arms from Yemen to supply Al Shabaab radical Islamists. The latter want operate in the Galgala Mountains, on the Puntland-Somaliland border. The former minister’s brother, who works for funds transfer company Dahabshiil, is also reportedly suspected by the US of being linked to Al-Shabaab.”
