I'm going to italy in the summer. I know italy colonised south Somalia for time. Does anyone know if there's big diaspora community over there or no?

Mostly recent migrants, but they’re not that many

Would you say it's comparable to the rest if Europe?

Depends. It’s not like the UK (as someone who has visited both countries) but there are many Somalis who travel there and enjoy their time there. My fyp was full of Somali Americans and Canadians travelling there for a “euro summer” vacation. Many had hijab on and had fun

Italy gonna my retirement destination

I knew an old Somali guy who studied there said the place wants very welcoming to blacks but this was in the 70s so maybe stuff has changed

Italy is a nice place, you should still go.

It was a initial destination for migrants and also half italians but more of a stepping stone for the eventual goal of dawlatul "freedom" and dawlatul inferior shaah
My dad talks about encountering his brother there and he became a dj with a italian girlfriend, started lecturing him on the diin and their hooyo told him italy xaaran for him

Abayo make sure you can speak Italian before you go there. I heard there can be racist there

Why?

I'm not really comfortable going places where there aren't somalis tbh. I haven't been to any country outside canada and the UK and France as well as dubai, by myself at least.

I understand. If you go in the summer you might bump into other Somali tourists. I wouldn’t recommend going alone if you’re a hijabi tho

I suggest you don't go there. Have you gone to Kenya before? Thera million of Somali's nice weather beach and it built like it's westernized

Yeah I've been once when I was quite young to visit family. But that's it. My dad doesn't want me travelling far. He wants me to go to the neighbouring countries.

Ok your in Europe. Just look up countries that nearly by that Somali's are been there 30 years and not ones dealing migrant problems.

If you want to be safe come to the states. There are Somali's everywhere. Also Americans are chill people and we have all climate type in one country. It's safe nice beaches good people and all foods a around the world. The majority of Somali's like in cold regions tho some in California also
