Somali italians

I'm not really comfortable going places where there aren't somalis tbh. I haven't been to any country outside canada and the UK and France as well as dubai, by myself at least.
Italy is one of the biggest tourist attractions you will be fine, everyone goes there in the summer. Lake como, Milan and etc is always so busy.

There were thousands there when the civil war happened but everybody moved on due to how gaajo that country is🤣. Even their own people mass migrate to this day out of there.

My auntie used to lived there before the civil war but she moved to America in the 90s cuz there was no opportunities for her kids . There used to be a decent sized community of somalis there but most of them moved to the rest of Europe or North America and now its most people tahriibing.

Sadly, really. In terms of weather you know Somalis and Eritreans would have 100% preferred Italy to places like Sweden, Norway or the UK. It was just better economic prospects pulling them north.

Somalia is lucky that it wasn't colonized by the French. Because those m@therf#ckers are the worst colonizers. They strip you of your culture and language. Not saying the Italians are good people, but at least they didn't destroy the heritage of the people they colonized unlike the French. Somalia, Ethiopia, Libya, and Eritrea who were colonized by Italy still retain their local languages and heritage whereas those colonized by France have been culturally and linguistically permanently colonized by France.

Djibouti didn't lose its culture or language, and its people have an advantage over other Somalis because they can speak French

I'm going to italy in the summer. I know italy colonised south Somalia for time. Does anyone know if there's big diaspora community over there or no?
There's a bit, not huge, though. Most moved there then left for other countries, some stayed. Idk about towns like Rome, but I can attest that theres quite a few in Bologna, I was born there myself

There's communities in Italy from Rome, Milan, Padova, Turin, and newer immigrant communities in Venice, Udine, and Naples. Most are just Italian on the census and very much Italian since they've been there since the 60's and 70's and were born and raised there.
