Instead of sweeping it under the rug why don't you fins the cause and the solution to your problem..hiding it is not going to help in the long run..

If you want to see a good change of leadership in a country, read a little about puntland last S-election...

Your region can learn a thing or two
Good for puntland. If you want to make a thread about go ahead do it. Please dont derail this thread with your saltiness :heh:

That's a lie, I don't see anything false about the tweet.

Somaliland is a region in northern Somalia, that's a fact.

5 people or more died due to allegations towards the election process. In fact this election will be more remembered for its irregularities rather than anything else.

More than half of Somaliland poppulation inclduing high ranking memberd of the society believe that this election was a sham election..

These are all informative and factual news..

I don't see the reason why you are hating on the man other the fact that he amongst many others is exposing Africa's best kept secret..
as usual ya'll just barfing same old. read my other replies can't bother to repeat.

lol you guys really only say the same regurgitated story smh :noneck:

The only thing that can be debated is whether SL is part of Somalia but everything is else on that tweet is spot on. If there were no irregularities, the announcement wouldn't be delayed for 5 days nor would 5 innocent people have died in the riots.

the riot was by an angry irrational mob mad they didn't win. there is no substantial evidence kulmiye won by fraud, this is fact. these "journos" are acting like this riot was made by people actually in touch with the facts layed out. the whole of SL is not burning, there was insignificant smoke.

ridiculous people can't control their pride & bias.

It was delayed because the NEC was attempting to convince Cirro to come back to the counting process and seeing to his demands for 5 days.

The counting process must be witnessed by every party's witnessess. Cirro walked out and the counting STOPPED for 3 days as a result, until he
was convinced that there were no fake ballots or rigging in Gabiley.

When the counting he finished Waddani demanded a recount in order to see if there were any irregularities - 240 boxes out of 1650 were opened and not a single irregularity was found.

The internal and external observers all said there were minor irregularities - But that it was free and fair.

Waddani then demanded a complete recount - The NEC had had enough, and the were past the 7 days required in order to release a initial result.

The initial results will now be submitted to the courts - Cirro can still address whatever grievance that he has.

But I am hearing he has accepted the results - FINALLY.

In response to the original topic - I would argue he can say all he wants about SL, we are entitled to our opinions.

However his portrayal of the elections are completely false - His opinions onSL should NOT get in the way of facts.

Whether he's accurate or not is besides the point. Hamza's tweet was very biased, especially when he called the election a "clan selection" when in fact it was a 1 man, 1 vote election. Nobody was forced to vote along clan lines, rather it was identity politics at play that led to the electorate voting on personal/societal interests (qabiil in this case) instead of policy (similar to class based voting in the UK and caste based voting in India).

On the other hand, Somalia's farcical presidential elections WAS a clan selection (14,000 clan elders were picked to vote), yet Hamza/Al Jazeera would've never called it that.

Who was forced to vote along clan lines in Mogadishu? Provide source real quick..

It was a clan selection just like Mogadishu where you had 14000 clans men giving there voice and in Hargeysa was exactly the same where you had clans voting for there clan representatives..just q different masks but the overall game play was carpon copy.

If anything clan politics was much worser and far more an important issue in the northern than it was in the southern..

Somaliland S-election was a sham election if you consider the overall message it was sending as a democratic election. You might as well count which habar allied with which habar and count the population figures of said allied factions and declare the victor..

I could have given you the name of the new president from my bed sit in Bermondsey for a fraction of the dollars spend..

I don't know if you're daft or trolling at this point. Everyday people voted based on who they personally wanted. The reason they chose a particular candidate is completely up to them whether it be based on clan or not. We know, all somalis value clan. That is NOT what this hamza & other xamar journos are implying. How can you insinuate the votes were a fraud when it has very clearly been established that the votes are accurate?!? You mean to say votes are a fraud because general population got to vote & majority chose a party you don't support? The allegations of fraud in Gabiley were factually disputed.

You all are upset because you feel a lot of the people voted for the candidate with the same clan ??? Voting for whomever you like, despite the reason is called a democracy. Let's also not act like the waddani supporters are voting for them for their policies looooooool.

Anyways, i understand it's hard for you to believe a somali region can have a democratic election. Be stunned.
