Idk how you can live in this rw dominance era and disagree. Do you think the right wing shift happening is just random? People are focusing race and ethnicity more than ever. Affirmative action is gone, republicans are going after schools that they think don’t pander to them, international students are being asked to leave the country and I’m not even talking about students involved in protests. Burying your head in the sand in times like this is dumb. Of course there are people who don’t view everything through race but they’re becoming a minority as social media algorithms boost divisive content in order to convert apolitical people into rw people.
The guy who posted the original tweet allowed the tweet to stay up even as people were calling the guy slurs. Let’s say he was truly disappointed to see a Somali person working there and had no evil intentions, why would he still leave the tweet up even as people were being racist to the tech guy? Why didn’t he respond to any of the racist comments and tell them they were wrong for saying that? The account that posted the original tweet does hold Somalis to a higher moral standard & would never post about any of the stuff ajanabis do. He was one of those weirdos who enjoy bringing attention to Somalis that he thinks are doing something wrong (eg working for this kinda company or going on a dating show etc) thinking that they will get praise from their followers for calling this person out when it just leads to people commenting slander against Somalis as a whole. Because that’s what happens when people post that kinda content, ajanabis still see those people as Somali and will use their post against them in the future when they get into an argument.
If you think that people don’t hold Somalis to a higher standard then idk what to tell you. Chunkz was getting hate from tjs because another guy used a racial slur despite the fact that there was a south asian man there who ignored the racial slur.
No, Somalis are not to blame for people applying untrue & fake stereotypes to us to make themselves look better. No, we’re not to blame for ajanabis following us around on the internet. I follow many Somali influencers and see them getting constant weird comments from ajanabis who think they have the right to police us and can critique everything we do. I do not see Somalis doing the same and arguing with random ajanabi influencers over their choice of outfit or song choice or whatever. Why would it be our fault? You’re saying “it’s Somali themselves who like to scream about these things” when that isn’t true. What did this guy do besides make a linkedin account? What do the random Somali girls who have to deal with ajanabis spamming “it’s always them” in their comments do besides post videos of themselves? What did Somalis do to deserve ajanabis making jokes about us being #1 in a crime league table when actual crime tables look like this?
I can’t understand justifying racism (because that’s what all of the examples above are) because there are a couple of annoying Somalis on the internet.

What bad behavior are you talking about? We live in the west. This man choosing to work at a defense company isn’t bad behavior lol it’s life here. The average person wouldn’t look at him and think he’s a bad person for working there. People in the west don’t think that hijabi in jeans is a bad person either. I don’t ever see Somalis attacking random muslim women who wear their hijab with their hair showing but I definitely see ajanabis doing that to us. What’s the Somali equivalent of ajanabis commenting “it’s always the Somalis” since you think we’re all as bad as each other?
I’m explaining why it’s weird for people to repost a screenshot from 2023 to attack this guy and you’re talking about protecting someone just because they’re Somali. Any sane person would think it’s weird to save a photo from two years ago just to get some likes on twitter.
Thinking that social media exaggerates things and is just bots or whatever is dumb. Nobody knew about the Haitians cat issue in Ohio until a twitter account started posting about it and then it went viral and became the number one news story. What happened after? Trump won and those Haitians got deported. You’re deluding yourself if you think it’s just botted likes. The average person gets their news from social media.
Do you think people go up to the average Albanian and ask them for their thoughts on Kosovo or Serbia? Do they ask Bangladeshis about their thoughts on the 1971 war? I can continue and give many examples. The overfamiliar behavior Somalis experience is not normal and does not happen to other ethnic groups at the same rate it happens to us. The qabil, xalimo/abdi, SL/Somalia talk is weird and not harmless at all. You do not see Somalis going around and asking these weird questions to others the way people do to us. Idk how you can deny this and pretend that all ethnic groups experience this as regularly as we do.
A lot of the things I explain about do happen with other ethnic groups but most of it comes from people from other ethnic groups attacking them. They don’t have to worry about their own posting linkedin screenshots or arguing with them for taking a photo with an influencer or saying it’s their own fault for being loud online or doing weird stuff like this

There are times in which things can be seen through a ethnic lense and times when it should not, we are talking about this specific instance of this man being posted for working at Lockheed Martin, and how you kept viewing through an ethnic lense, me saying don’t view everything through a racial lense, doesn’t mean don’t ever.
