Faysal Mohamed Hees, 26, of Toronto, was a resident at an Islington Ave. apartment building in Etobicoke where police found him while responding to what was first reported as a medical call.

Hees was found with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his death was the result of a homicide.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Hees died of a gun shot wound.

Hees is Toronto’s 68th homicide victim of the year.

Det. Leslie Dunkley told reporters Wednesday that there is no information on a suspect at this time.

Investigators are reviewing the building’s security footage, Dunkley said.

They believe that there were other people in the apartment where Hees was found at the time of the incident.

“We are looking for assistance from the public, any information they have could assist us with this investigation,” said Dunkley.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

AUN.

s are turning Toronto into a mini-xamar. This case will follow the predictable trajectory of no leads, no one coming forward, and the police moving to close the case shut. It would not surprise me at all if those who shot this man are also responsible for number of other homicides that makeup that 68 number with no suspects in sight.

How many Somalis were killed? 10+?

68 is still pretty low for a city of 3 million.

Sorry to hear about your loss man

Nah I wasn't close to him. Can't even say I know his family that well, but that's one the few faces I stopped seeing around. It was a fucked up jolt seeing it again with a goatee no less.

We're less than 5 percent of the city we shouldn't be making up 15 percent of its homicides.

And it's low compared to scrub places like Chicago. It's bad compared to our older statistics.

Not originally, no.

I don't have any hard numbers. All I will say that if more than half of those homicides were just -on- violence, it would not surprise me at all or anyone else for that matter at this point in time. The community hides these criminals and refuses to give them up to face justice. Not even the old ways of making amends by paying compensation to the victim's family is followed. More alarming is the dangerous precedent it sets. Once these thugs realize they can take lives like this in their community with impunity and no recourse or justice, it will further embolden them to take even more lives over the most trivial shit and hence expect even more unsolved homicides with no leads next year and even more the year after.

I am interested in the Somali murder stats in the surrounding cities like Mississauga and Brampton and Vaughan and Ajax. I think Somali murder stats here can be disproportionately higher there

There were people in the apartment when he died. You're right; Somalis don't talk.

A few years ago a Somali was killed in a shisha spot in Edmonton, filled with dozens of Somalis. His murder is still not yet solved after about 5 years. They don't even know how the killer looks like. The police said the Somali community was uncooperative and said they'll close the file and Somali community leaders cried racism and demanded an apology.

Now that I think of it; of the 100 Somalis murdered in the past 10 years in Alberta, maybe less than 5 were solved.

My condolences to the family and the people that know him on here.

But, @AbdiJohnson do you have any stats on Somali murders and violence on the U.S and Canada? It's hard to get stats as Somalis are put as Black in the stats here in the U.S. I wonder if Somalis are killed more often in Canada than the U.S, even though our Somali population is larger.

I'm telling you, every single one of those killers are known by the community. They boast about who they fatally karbashed. It's openly talked about and everyone knows what Farah or Abdi did and why they did it. Somalis are very good in keeping secrets or there are reprisals.

So they have the same "no snitch" code as in the black ghettos?
