I always thought that Somali Nomads will always grazes their lives stocks within their tribal lands, but my grandparents who were nomads will go back in forth within the Ethiopian Somali Border to Graze, and Trade. Their key cities where Harar, Dhusomareeb, and Hobyo, Merka. They would migrate seasonally.

To give you context for the time period this was during colonial times so the borders were not that strict.

I believe a lot of Somali nomads use to travel between the borders because apparently most Somali DNA results in 23andMe have some sort of Ethiopian percentage in them. My Ethiopian percentage is 0.1%.

I'm from the Somali Galbeed and 100% Somali. All 4 Grandparents are Gadabuursi so I suppose that debunks the myth. Anyway, I think you ocassionally find small admixture % for some Somalis irrespective of whether they live in Somalia proper or not. Its variable from family to family. But the Ethio admixture isn't significant which denotes its not all that recent. And likely just one remote maternal ancestor in most cases.
