They sicken me bc they’re not honest people . If she wished to end this practise she would interact and communicate with Somali women.

With that Somalian thing I was pretty sure, but nevertheless this speaks up for any Somali woman who goes through this.
Burying your head in the sand will not make the problem disappear, good thing that there are Somali women who speak about this abroad and at home, and spread awareness among their kin

This issue can be discussed and resolved by Somalis only. No need for outside groups to know about this.

Vagina entrepreneurs are at it again!! I thought NGOs who work in that field used to make big money back in the 2000s and 2010s. Come in 2022, I doubt the money is there any more, but perhaps this girl do have connections in UN in Nairobi.

It is equally a problem. A lot of the people that are interacting with the Tweet aren't even Somali and it's not like this issue only occurs in Somalia. There are many other African countries that practices FGM that aren't even Muslim countries. This is just fuel for certain people to attack Somalis online with and you know how strong the Somaliphobia is on Twitter.
I visited Somalia/Somaliland late 2020 and early 2021. The Somalis that I saw in big cities already stopped it.
That being said, there is a whole NGO industry who milks the FGM/Female circumcision issue. They are known as around the UN offices as "Vagina Entrepreneurs".
That's good to hear but as you can see the propaganda is still going strong making it seem like FGM is a Somali wide problem.
Some women make huge noises in order for the UN offices give money to them. For over 20 years, it has been a big cash cow for the Vagina Entrepreneurs.
On the ground though, it was the ulema (religious scholars) who are working hard to stop this pharaonic custom. But peiople need to understand that Vagina Enterpreneurs only make noises to collect money from international NGOs and UN.
