Somali women says you must lighten your skin.

I am thinking of wearing a niqab to get away from attracting the male gaze. I aint putting my health in jeopardy inorder to keep a man. Life is more than that.

The bleached look is hideous.

The beauty of a dark skinned xalimo is unmatched and most pleasing to the eye. More exotic and regal in my humble opinion.

When I went to Somalia 2 years ago, I couldn't stand a certain smell, I kept asking people what the smell was and they told me it was the chemicals that some women used to bleach themselves, sad.

I don't blame the women who bleach they were brainwashed into thinking the lighter the better, there's a whole mahmah in the Somali language disrespecting dark skinned women, doqon iyo Habeen ba madow . May Allah swt help these women.

Is the smell that of their skin burning? I can only imagine how pungent that is.

autism is probably high because of inbreeding
east asians skin bleach a lot too and i don’t think autism is that common with their ppl.

East Asians have access to products that are not as harmful as the products Somalis use. A lot of bleaching products Africans use have mercury and steroids in them.

These days they even bleach while they‘re pregnant, subxan‘allah. They don‘t care about themselves nor the damage they inflict on their unborn child. Truly sickening!

I was about to say this. Don’t these women understand that everything they do affects their unborn child? From what they put on their skin to what they eat?

You guys are being hasty it's not this young womans fault she's bleaching her skin it's western society and it's rigerous beauty standards she can never hope to meet.
western??? this is in somalia. somali guys like light skin so the girls bleach got nothing to do with the west

On another note, a very important sector in Somali society that must be re-established, that often doesn't get as much thought as the others, is the entertainment industry. It is what shapes the culture and having a strong one will prevent ajnabi entertainment (thus, beauty standards, local lingo, and what not) from infiltrating Somalia and the mindset of its people.

They don‘t care, "qurux" is more important than their health and safety. Sad thing is they spread their madness on social media and only a few ppl in the comment section advice them against it. The majority supports them and also wanna bleach their skin.

There are countless gabays talking about the beauty of dark skin (maarin specifically). So I don’t know when it became popular to bleach your skin to look lighter. And you’re not “whitening” moreso you’re removing the top layer of your skin, leading to hypersensitivity. It’s not reversible and can lead to cancer.

Maybe that’s why autism is high in Somalis because the women are bleaching whilst pregnant?
Mariin women oo san dhuuban :lawd::lawd:
