I found this video quite fascinating. Here is the Somali foreign Minister at the time, Cumar Arteh Ghalib, who was travelling to Kenya to mediate a dispute between Uganda and Tanzania.

I've also read Somalia joined the Arab league under his ministership. Even though I disagree with that decision to join, you can clearly see from the way he speaks he is a political heavyweight, who could run circles around the dameers we have running Somalia today.

Cumar Arteh is Isaaq (HA) though. In 1972, Somalia was still under the early Kacaan period, before all the problems with qabil started. If the Kacaan had a golden age, 1972 would be right in the middle of it.

Arguably this was one of the only real representative governments Somalia had, in my opinion, and it was filled with a lot of heavyweights from all clans.

I think we should foster stronger alliances with other African countries, perhaps with countries outside the Arab League. It's too bad we share borders with countries that want to take over us though
