I think he's a textbook example of a good diplomat but a lousy politician. His actions as the interim PM sparkled the clan elements in the civil war. He made a speech and called for the government armies to surrender to the rebel groups and specifically mentioned USC and SNM, leaving out the Darod rebel groups as SPM and SSDF. That's at least when the MJs woke and smelled the coffee.

Yeah, the guy spoke fluent Arabic too. Seems like the calibre of our diplomats was top tier at the time.

Here is the video of when he brought Somalia into the Arab League in 1974.

It's unfortunate that he stoked some clan elements afterwards in the civil war. In the north he was kind of viewed as a pawn of USC when they made their unilateral declaration so that makes sense. His acting Prime Ministership was not taken all that seriously and viewed as a gesture made in bad faith by the USC.

If you can find that speech btw, I'd like to listen to it.

Didn't he leave the USC in 1993 to run for President of Somaliland?

Carte, Cigaal, Tuur (AUN) all running for President. Imagine choosing between them instead of the ones running for President now :wow1:

These same noble Darood left Xamar after the civil war and now your people are occupied and receiving welfare from Bantu soldiers from Kenya

I found this video quite fascinating. Here is the Somali foreign Minister at the time, Cumar Arteh Ghalib, who was travelling to Kenya to mediate a dispute between Uganda and Tanzania.

I've also read Somalia joined the Arab league under his ministership. Even though I disagree with that decision to join, you can clearly see from the way he speaks he is a political heavyweight, who could run circles around the dameers we have running Somalia today.

This man was vile a qabiliste if he was alive today he would be a somalidiid he would be part of somaliland baqti foqol baqti waa dhad wada jiran oo cudur wada qabo.
